A new force for Australian quality, safety and performance: Monday 8 March, 2010 The four organisations that make up Australia’s measurement, standards and conformance infrastructure have today formally established a collaborative body to identify and action joint business opportunities to drive innovation. The Technical Infrastructure Alliance (TIA) brings together Standards Australia, National Measurement Institute (NMI), National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) and the Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ).

Stricter requirements for child retraints recommended in new Standard: Wednesday 24 February 2010 Standards Australia has today released a revised Standard for the design and performance of child restraints for motor vehicles that classifies restraints by height and approximate age ranges rather than the mass of the child. The new edition of the joint Australian/New Zealand Standard also introduces requirements for a new type of booster seat intended to accommodate children up to 138 cm in height, and calls for restraints to use markings to indicate the shoulder height of a child it is intended to fit.
