August 28, 2024

Statements

Standards Australia is pleased to announce the selection of Maria Jose and Chris Jenkins as the Australian representatives for the 2024 IEC Young Professionals (YP) Programme. This one-year programme offers a unique opportunity for emerging leaders in the energy and electrotechnology sectors to enhance their skills on standards development at an international platform.

Maria Jose, a Graduate Engineer at Powercor Australia, has been involved in standardisation through her work in network solutions. She aims to contribute to the energy transition by understanding global standards and bringing fresh perspectives at both the national and company level.

When asked about her expectations from the IEC YP Programme, Maria expressed her hope to identify an area where she can best contribute as a young professional. She is also looking forward to learning about the inner workings of the IEC and networking with other technical experts and young professionals worldwide.

Chris Jenkins, a Systems Engineering Manager at ResMed, has a track record of developing numerous products in compliance with international standards. He plans to deepen his involvement in IEC TC 62 - Medical equipment, software, and systems and conformity assessments under the IECEE CA System, with a focus on becoming an industry leader in medical devices and IoT connectivity technology standards for Australia.

Both Maria and Chris will attend the Annual Workshop in Scotland in October, scheduled alongside the IEC General Meeting.

Standards Australia selects two applicants annually for this programme. Applications for the 2025 programme will be announced in Q2 2025. More information can be found here.
