Standards Australia launches Fellowship to elevate infrastructure quality in Asia-Pacific
Statements
Standards Australia, in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), is set to launch the Asia-Pacific Infrastructure Standards Fellowship Program (APAC-ISF) 2025. This two-week program aims to create more efficient and resilient regional infrastructure development.
By empowering infrastructure professionals from Southeast Asia and the Pacific, the Fellowship is set to showcase the critical role of international standards in infrastructure development.
These standards help set management systems, reduce risks, and provide clear benchmarks for products and services in infrastructure projects. By adopting them, inefficiencies and risks in infrastructure development across the APAC region can be minimised, creating a more conducive environment for capital investment and private sector participation.
The APAC-ISF will focus on the role of standards in effective planning, procurement, risk management, and maintenance of infrastructure projects. Participants will gain an understanding of how standards support these critical areas, ultimately leading to more efficiencies. The fellowship will be delivered in Sydney, in two stages:
- Group 1: Participants from Southeast Asia (28 April to 09 May)
- Group 2: Participants from the Pacific and Timor-Leste (26 May to 6 June)
Successful applicants will receive flights, accommodation, and a travel allowance. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with like-minded participants, share insights on challenges and best practices, and contribute to empowering the APAC region.
Adam Stingemore, Chief Development Officer at Standards Australia, stated, "We’re excited to launch this program, which underscores our commitment to fostering quality infrastructure development across the Asia-Pacific region. By equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to implement international standards, we aim to contribute to the region's sustainable economic growth and social development."
