Sector Updates
Australia’s universal healthcare system serves over 25 million and employs around 660,000 people. However, the country’s ageing population and its impact on the economy are putting pressure on the system.
To address this challenge, Standards Australia is focusing on frameworks designed to lead to better health outcomes. We are also developing standards relating to health records, drug detection in oral fluids, and health products.
Current key projects include:
- Hosting the APEC Silver Economy Workshop: working towards a standardisation framework relating to older people and their interaction with the economy.
- Facilitating the ‘Digital Hospital Handbook’: a guide on how hospitals can make better use of technology for greater efficiency (see Digital Hospitals and Connected Care).
- Dementia-Inclusive Communities Leadership Roundtable - Outcomes Report.
