Transitional period extended for AS 3547:2019 - Breath alcohol testing devices

Today, Standards Australia announced the extension of the transitional period for AS 3547:2019 – Breath alcohol testing Devices for certain devices.
The transitional period will be extended for personal and single use devices only, until the new personal use (AS 5365 - Breath alcohol electronic testing devices for personal use) and single use (AS X20-702 - Breath alcohol chemical test devices — Estimation of the concentration of alcohol contained in an exhaled breath sample — Specifications and test methods) standards are developed and published. For all other devices, AS 3547-1997 is now superseded by AS 3547:2019.
“Standards Australia understands the importance of these standards and the need to ensure their timely and accurate development. Extending the transitional period of AS 3457:2019 allows us to focus on the documents and ensures industry stakeholders have guidance in the interim,” said Richard Lambert, Standards Development Manager at Standards Australia.
